Assistant Principal's Message

Dear El Rincon Elementary School Community,

It is with great excitement that I introduce myself as the full-time Assistant Principal of El Rincon Elementary School. I am honored to have the opportunity to continue to collaborate with such enthusiastic students, an extremely dedicated staff, and a supportive school community.

I have been dedicated to the field of education for over ten years at El Marino Language School as a 4th-grade Japanese Immersion Teacher.  I was actively involved in many communities like the MTSS Leadership Team, School Site Council, and co-advisor for the Math Club at El Marino and advocated on behalf of the students and teachers.  Last year, I was a 50/50 Assistant Principal at El Rincon and La Ballona and was able to widen my lens and experiences within the CCUSD community. I hope to use my foundational roots as a teacher and experience with CCUSD schools to help support our students, teachers, staff, and families.

On a personal note, I am an alumna of Culver City Unified School District from Farragut Elementary to Culver City High School. I graduated from Loyola Marymount University with my Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies/Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Administrative Services. After my undergraduate program, I moved to Japan for one year to teach English in a rural town in Ebino, Miyazaki. Then, I moved back to Culver City and started to work at the very district that developed my passion for learning and teaching.

To me, education is a life-long process, and my goal is to grow into an administrator that can serve the community and, most importantly, continue to center students in all school-related decisions.  I am excited to weave my experiences, my willingness to learn and grow, and my child-centered approach to support our school communities.  I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you soon! If you have any questions for me, please feel free to send me an email at [email protected]

Warmly,

Kana Nakagawa

Assistant Principal
