Earth Fest 2025

Earth Fest 2024 proved to be a resounding success, attracting hundreds of families from across the district. 

 

Our Earth Fest celebration is an engaging way for students and families to learn about environmental awareness and sustainable practices. From interacting with live rescue animals to learning the art of washing seabird feathers, from pedaling a smoothie-making bike blender to interacting with an upcycled cardboard Recycle Robot, participants explored topics ranging from pollinators and wetlands, to gardening and people-powered transportation. Amidst playful activities, creations, and celebrations, families also enjoyed rock painting, face painting, food trucks, paletas, posing in the lively photo booth, and vying for prizes.

 

El Rincon welcomed greater district-wide engagement this year: Alongside the return of El Marino Green Team’s complimentary bike valet services for all cyclists and Lin Howe Green Team’s “Race to Zero Waste!” activity, La Ballona organized a book swap, Farragut introduced their Greenmoji program, complete with enticing raffle prizes, the CCHS Green New Deal empowered students to craft recycled self-watering pots, while the CCHS Endangered Species Club facilitated an animal  finger puppet creation station

 

Earth Fest is distinguished by its commitment to Zero Waste initiatives. This includes partnering with food vendors who exclusively use compostable containers and utensils, as well as maintaining volunteer-staffed waste stations. These stations ensure proper sorting into recycle, compost, and landfill bins, thus promoting responsible waste management throughout the event..

 

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the organizations and individuals whose contributions made this event possible, with special recognition to our financial supporter, the Culver City Education Foundation, which continually provides enriching opportunities for all CCUSD students. The tireless efforts of the 2024 Earth Fest Planning Committee, led by Jenifer Metz and Teresa Wong, were instrumental in orchestrating this event after months of dedicated planning. None of this would have been possible without the numerous community volunteers who came together to prepare campus, set up, manage the event, and assist with clean up. We also extend our appreciation to the UCLA One Bus, One Cause volunteers whose assistance ensured everything ran smoothly.
