Daily/Weekly Schedule
This is a schedule of what we are doing in our class. We rotate our PE time with other Kindergarten classes, accounting for the difference in time from week to week. Remember that our schedule in Kindergarten can change due to special activities or the need to spend more time on certain concepts or subjects. While we don't have a dedicated Music time in our schedule, we use songs at many times during transitions and instruction. All of the times might not match up to the minute. This accounts for transitions between activities.
Sometimes we have a chance to participate in a special activity with very little notice. While we stick to the schedule as best we can, please know that the schedule is subject to change.
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday:
8:45-9:00 Opening Routine: Pledge of Allegiance, Patriotic Song, Attendance.
9:00-10:00 Language Arts whole group instruction.
This includes letter knowledge and sounds, word building, reading, sentence building, rhyming activities, among many other things. We usually take a short break at around 9:30 for a movement activity.
The final 15-20 minutes of this time period is usually devoted to writing activities.
10:00-10:20 Snack and Recess
10:25-11:35 Center Activities.
During this part of our day, we are working in four small groups with 6 students each. We are doing four separate activities. Much of our math instruction occurs in small groups at centers. Mr. Knight works with one group, . The other three groups are completing tasks independently. All groups get a chance to do all four activities. We do two rounds before lunch, completing the final two rounds after lunch.
11:45-12:30 Lunch and lunch recess.
12:35-1:35 Continue Center time (see above).
1:40-2:10 P.E. on the big yard with Coach Lopez.
2:10-2:40 Social Studies or Science depending on the day of the week.
2:45-3:00 Calendar activities.
3:00-3:15 Packing up and reviewing the successes of our day.
Exceptions:
Science Lab every other Thursday
Computer Lab: Tuesday 12:35-1:05, Friday 9:00-9:40
P.E. time changes: Every 3rd week, we have P.E. from 2:10-2:40, moving the calendar before P.E.

We are still awaiting our assigned time for visiting the El Rincon Science Discovery Lab. This will be put into our schedule as soon as we know.
