Volunteer With Us!
Recess Help
A note from our MTSS Specialist, Hoa Le:
We would LOVE to get additional hands on the yards during our 1st-5th and TK-K lunch recesses.
Who: Cleared El Rincon Volunteers
What: Walking around, engaging with students, and helping with positive playground safety and fun! We also have a large Connect Four that is available for 1st-5th grade. (More games to come throughout the year). There's an Art Cart available as well. One parent brought in their guitar and played music at recess. Open to ideas!
Where: Check in at the front office, grab a recess volunteer backpack, head to the playground to assist with supervision, play games, and have fun with our Rockets.
When: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Why: Based on recent data, the MTSS team recognized the need for extra positive behavior help during lunch recess. We also want more opportunities for cleared volunteers to become involved and active in our Rocket community.
How: Click this link to sign-up! It should be added to your Google Calendar, and it will send you a reminder.

- Q: What is volunteer clearance? What does it mean to be a cleared volunteer?
A: Volunteer clearance is a process required by the district for any volunteer activity during school hours that involves working with students, to ensure the safety of our students. Once you have completed the process, you are considered a cleared volunteer throughout your student's CCUSD career. - Q: What are the steps to becoming a cleared volunteer?
A: STEP 1- Attend a volunteer orientation with Dr. Hodge.STEP 2- Complete the Volunteer Application and turn it into Mrs. Hamme in the school office.STEP 3- Provide payment to the school district for the filing fee. [Note: currently waived as of 11/29]STEP 4- Complete the Live scan process (now available through CCUSD:STEP 5- Wait for your clearance approval (one or two weeks at most). Contact Mrs. Hamme in the front office to verify you have been cleared. - Q: Do I need to be cleared in order to volunteer?
A: No. We have plenty of volunteer opportunities that do not require clearance. These include activities after school or on weekends (Student Store and many of our family events), independent efforts (collecting or delivering items, organizing materials, coordinating activities). - Q: How do I find out about volunteer opportunities?
A: Opportunities are advertised through the volunteer email list, in the Rocket Review, in the El Rincon Rockets FB group, and right here on this page (http://volunteer.elrinconpta.org). - Q: How do I get on the volunteer email list?
A: If you have filled out the Volunteer Interest Form or signed up for something through SignUpGenius, you should be receiving the volunteer emails that are also included below. If you have not received these emails, please email [email protected] so we can try to figure out why. - Q: I am not able to make an ongoing or long-term commitment. Can I still volunteer?
A: Yes! We have plenty of opportunities that require only an hour or a morning/afternoon/evening. - Q: I would like to take a more active role OR I have an idea for something that doesn't exist OR I want to volunteer but can't find an opportunity that's a good fit. What should I do?
A: Please contact Teresa Wong at [email protected], and we'll discuss!
- The PTA will be selling Spiritwear 5pm-6pm (possibly beyond 6pm if we can get some volunteer coverage (sign-up link - clearance is not required).
- Windsor Hills Pizza will be selling food from 5pm to 7pm. Pre-orders have sold out, but they'll be taking walk-up orders for cheese and pepperoni pizza slices.
- The PTA is giving dinner vouchers to all teachers, but their evenings will likely be packed. Room Parents: Please offer to deliver your teachers their meals if they'd like (all teacher vouchers get front-of-line priority!). If you are unable to do this, please recruit another family who can.
