Calling all Culver City schools, organizations, departments- Please sign up for a 2-hour time slot to organize volunteers from your group to help collect food for the Backpacks for Kids program in front of Pavilions on Jefferson. At least 4 volunteers are needed for the entire two hours- feel free to break the two hours into shorter shifts (e.g., 2 one-hour shifts, or 4 thirty-minute shifts). Children/students are welcome and encouraged to help but must be accompanied by an adult (except high school students). Put on your group's spiritwear and come see how many donations you can collect!
Sponsored by the Culver City Unified School District Council PTA (CCCPTA), the Backpacks for Kids Program provides nutritious, child-friendly, easy-to-prepare food each week to children so they don't have to deal with food insecurity on the weekends. The food is distributed in bags that students take over the weekends during the school year when they are not able to receive school-provided breakfasts and lunches.
Volunteers will be handing out food shopping lists, cheering for and thanking those who donate, and collecting and organizing donated food.
